There is something sacred about a destination wedding. Not just the beauty of an island, the sound of waves, or the tropical breeze that wraps itself around you — but the pause. The intentional exhale. The moment where life slows down just enough for you, your partner, and your people to truly see and savor the love being celebrated.
As a destination wedding planner, travel designer, and former flight attendant, I’ve watched couples all over the world say “I do” in places that feel nothing short of magical. And if there is one thing I know for certain, it is this:
A destination wedding is not simply a ceremony. It is an experience — a feeling — a memory your family will talk about for years.
And that experience should be planned with grace, ease, and joy.
That’s exactly why I created my Odyssey Collection and why this blueprint exists.
Today, I’m walking you through the same framework I use with my couples inside the Odyssey Collection, blending luxury service, curated travel, intentional planning, and genuine heart.
Let’s begin your journey.
🌺 1. Your Wedding Begins With a Feeling, Not a Location

When most couples inquire, they start with one question:
“What destination do you recommend?”
I ask a very different one:
“What do you want this experience to feel like?”
Because the feeling drives the vision.
And the vision drives the decisions.
Here are the feelings couples often describe:
- Intimate + romantic – candlelit dinners, ocean breezes, soft colors
- Playful + fun – lots of dancing, group excursions, laughter
- Family-centered – multigenerational connections, welcome parties
- Modern + stylish – clean design, elevated spaces, curated décor
- Relaxed + simple – barefoot in the sand, minimal fuss
Once we know the “feeling,” we can identify the destination that matches it.
This is where the blueprint begins.

🌴 2. Choosing the Right Resort Is Everything.

A destination wedding lives or dies by the resort you choose.
But the truth is:
All-inclusive does NOT mean all-equal.
A gorgeous property on TikTok may have:
- weak wedding teams
- poor communication
- limited ceremony locations
- low food quality
- long walking distances
- outdated rooms
- limited guest accessibility
These details matter — and you deserve someone who sees what others miss.
When I choose a resort for my couples, I look at:
- Wedding team experience + responsiveness
- Privacy and beauty of ceremony locations
- Food quality at every restaurant
- Ease of travel for guests
- Room categories for different budgets
- Accessibility for elders + differently abled guests
- Décor limitations and vendor policies
- Onsite perks, upgrades, and group credits
This isn’t guesswork — it’s strategy.
And it’s where my background in aviation + hospitality + luxury planning serves you beautifully.

🌺 3. Design an Experience, Not Just a Ceremony
Your guests are not coming for a three-hour event.

They are coming for a multi-day celebration.
Destination weddings give you space to create magical moments such as:
- Welcome events
- Private catamaran cruises
- Farewell brunches
- Group excursions
- Pool days
- Personalized welcome bags
- Private dinners
- Surprise celebrations
But here’s the real difference:
Your guests should always feel guided, cared for, and informed — never confused.
Inside my Odyssey Collection, I build out custom guest communication so everyone knows:
- exactly where to go
- what to pack
- what time events begin
- dress codes
- transportation details
You get to enjoy your week.
Your guests get to feel honored.
And I handle everything in between.

🌴 4. Follow the Timeline That Keeps You Stress-Free
Most couples think they need a 75-step checklist.
No.
You need clarity and alignment.
Here’s the simplified, effective timeline I use with my couples:
12 Months Out — Vision + Destination + Resort
This is the most important stage.
You define your feeling, I curate your locations, and together we choose the perfect match.
We also begin guest communication early to give your loved ones time to plan.
9 Months Out — Travel + Early Design
Now we shift into logistics and aesthetics:
- room blocks
- travel coordination
- initial design board
- wedding team introductions
- excursion ideas
Your resort and travel experience begin shaping themselves.
6 Months Out — Details + Vendor Selection
This is where your vision becomes real:
- florals
- décor
- ceremony structure
- entertainment
- dinner menus
- photography
- video
- enhancements (fire dancers, sparkulars, romantic touches)
Every choice should feel intentional — never rushed.
3 Months Out — Finalization Phase
This is where we lock everything in:
- timelines
- menus
- seating
- guest confirmations
- rehearsal details
- transportation
- weather considerations
I communicate with the resort team so you remain relaxed.
Wedding Week — Joy + Presence
This week belongs to you.
My goal is for you to wake up, breathe, and live fully in every second.
I handle the logistics, the flow, the resort coordination, and every moment in the background so you only feel joy.
5. Partner With a Planner Who Values Your Peace
Your planner should make you feel:
- supported
- cared for
- understood
- guided
- excited
- calm
This is not about perfection — it’s about presence.
I partner with my couples the way I would want someone to guide me:
with clarity, compassion, honesty, and excellence.
I also partner closely with onsite teams — sometimes visiting the property before you arrive — to ensure your vision is executed with intention and integrity.
Your wedding is not simply an event.
It’s a legacy moment.
You deserve someone who treats it that way.
